Practice begins for B99 and B00 squads.
Parents –
We will be entering (2) teams into the local Brigade tournament. We will be entering a team in the U10 flight and one team in the U9 flight. We will have practice on Tuesday, 6:00pm at BHS. We need $35 for each child to cover tournament fees. We got a discount rate of $75 break for seach team. We are looking to have the boys split up and practice separately as managing 24+ boys at once is quite a challenge, but we may not do this immediately. Archie has committed himself to coaching the B99 (U10) team, but is committed to his high school team until the end of February. The other coaches will help fill in. We will also help fill in for the B00 (U9) squad as well. The B99(U9) team needs some coaches through CYSA-south as soon as possible. I don’t think we currently have any certified coaches for the B99 (U9) team, but we’ll have coverage for this coming tournament.
Looking forward to seeing all the boys at practice on Tuesday (and don’t forget your check).
Thanks.
Hao.
Team News
Team –
I hope everyone enjoyed the match yesterday morning. Like coach Archie and coach Issa said; It was a very exciting game and we saw a lot of energy in that match. When we started out 3 months ago, we did the best we could with what we knew about the kids in trying to make two even squads. We finished next to each other in standings, 4th and 5th. 3-3 tie where we had to go to the last shooters in penalty kicks seems pretty even. I know it may not seem even to all parents, but we did the best we could when we formed the teams.
For you parents that are interested, I just posted the video of the 8:00am match on our website. Red lost 8-0 at noon and will have one match, Saturday, November 7th at 8:00am against Ridgecrest. I have the noon game on video, but I’m not going to waste my time with posting it online. If anyone is interested in a copy, I’ll get you a DVD. Black will have an 8:00am match that Saturday against the Gunners. When black wins at 8:00am, black will play at noon versus the Brigade. Recap: 1 game for Red on the 7th, 2 games for Black (when Black wins @ 8:00am).
We have registered both teams in the November Classic and should receive schedules next Monday, 11/09/09. We have a couple of kids who will not be able to make it, but it looks like our rosters should be full for both squads.
Now for the not so fun stuff:
We just asked you parents for $30 for the tournament coming up. After speaking with Sam, we realized the club funds are less than what we thought. The $400 league bond was recently ran though and was an oversight(we assumed it already went through). It is what it is. Plus we did not account for the referee fees for the league cup games yesterday, 10/31, and this upcoming 11/07. The six additional matches add up to $195. To top it off, we’ve only collected the $30 from approximately 70% of the families. At this point, we are going to ask for an additional $20 to cover referee fees and to keep us from zero balance in our club. We are not collecting the $30 from the families who will not be participating in the tournament, but we still need to collect the $20 we’re asking for now. We have already cut the league the $900 tournament check. If we cannot collect money from everyone in a timely manner, somebody(usually Sam Parks) has to cover the costs until they are collected. We cannot continue to operate our club in this manner.
If you have already paid your $30, thank you and can you please bring another $20, otherwise bring a check for $50 made to Bakersfield Elite. Please don’t make us chase down money! I will be at practice Monday to collect money. Please find me. There is full transparancy with our books. If anyone has any questions regarding funds, etc, please feel free to contact Sam Parks (sparks@bakersfieldelitefc.com).
Thanks.
Hao Ngo.

2009 November Classic
Parents –
After speaking with a handful of parents and the coaches, we have decided to register both our teams for the local November Classic which is this November 14, 15. The registration fee is $450 per team, which means we are on the hook for $900. We have some available funds, but we need to ask each parent to bring a check for $30 to this Saturday’s 8:00am match. Please make checks payable to Bakersfield Elite. If your child is not going to be available for that weekend, please let us know as soon as possible. Issa may not be available that weekend, but myself and Archie will be sure that we have both teams managed and covered.
When I spoke with the tournament registrar on Wednesday evening, there were 4 teams currently registered.
1. Bakersfield Gunners (http://www.bakersfieldgunners.com/)
2. Ridgecrest Scorpions (http://www.scorpions-soccer.org/)
3. Oxnard PAL Blue (http://www.coastsoccer.com:443/2009/P8309.HTM)
4. SLO Soccer Club Fire (http://www.slosoccer.com)
5. Bakersfield Elite FC Black (http://www.BakersfieldEliteFC.com)
6. Bakersfield Elite FC Red (http://www.BakersfieldEliteFC.com)
We are looking at this opportunity for our boys to get additional match play without having to leave town. Each team is guaranteed three matches.
One last note. I mispoke in my last email regarding this weekend’s games. Only one team will have two matches this Satuday. Our two teams will play each other at 8:00am, 10/31. Only the winning team will play at noon,10/31. Both teams will play one additional game on Saturday, November 7th, regardless of the outcome of the 8:00am or NOON game on 10/31. I hope this clarifies up any confusion.
If you have any questions, please ask.
See you guys at 8:00am, Halloween morning.
Good luck. Go Elite!
Hao Ngo
Reminder for Saturday’s match
Parents –
Reminder, please make sure your son brings both uniforms for this Saturday’s match. From now on you need to make sure your son has both uniforms every match day, not just this coming Saturday. If you still owe the club money, please bring a cash or a check on Saturday. Checks can be made payable to Bakersfield Elite. Please come on time, dressed and ready to go on Saturday.
Also, make sure to frequently check the team website for updates.
Thanks.
Hao.
Please bring money to practice on Monday
Parents –
Please bring money for your T-Shirt orders to practice on Monday. Checks payable to “Bakersfield Elite” are okay. If anybody has pictures they’d like to see posted on the website, please email them to hngo@BakersfieldEliteFC.com or bring them to Hao Ngo on a CD or DVD.
Thanks.
Parking Passes for Kern County Soccer Park ($75)
Elite Parents,
If you would like an Annual Kern County Soccer Pass please bring me $75 cash or a check made out to Kern County Soccer Park. You will receive a pass upon receipt of your money. I will have approximately 20 passes, first come first served. You will find me at the other end of the soccer field with my girl’s team. Please get with me before 6:00 PM so that there is very little disruption of my girls practice. The passes that I don’t sell will be returned by Saturday morning.
Remember entry into the soccer park will be $8 on Saturday’s and $5 on Sunday’s and it’s very likely we will be playing in tournaments at the soccer park after the first of the year. This pass is valid through July 31, 2010.
Sam
