Bakersfield Elite Football Club B00/B99 Update
If you are receiving this letter, the good news is the coaching staff would like to extend a spot on one of our two boys’ teams (B00 or B99) to your son. The bad news is it is time to collect money and to go to work as league is starting very soon.
I attended the local BGSL/GESL meeting on Monday, 07/19/10. It doesn’t appear that Porterville will be coming down to play with us under Cal South after all. I heard CCB Blues B00 will be playing Coast League and Gunners may be showing two B00 teams. The league still doesn’t know how many teams there are for each division, mainly in part to everyone waiting to the last minute to register their teams and this includes us. League starts September 11th and we will play 8 games and then the league cup at the end like last year. BGSL will be transferring our team bond from last year to GESL so we do not have to provide another bond which is $200 per team. Our immediate fees we are looking at having to cover are the individual player registration fees through Cal South ($30 per player), Team registration fee of $450 per team and I am approximating the referee fees at $320 per team. We will also be buying new uniforms for the boys and the cost of the uniform kit will be approximately $80 per player for 2 jerseys, shorts, 2 socks and printing.
I have placed a small order for the uniform jerseys, shorts, and socks so that way we will have something for the boys to try on for sizing so we can order the appropriate size for each child. Hopefully those will be here the first week of August so we can try to get everyone’s sizes.
The coaches have decided at this point that we will ask for $300 from each player. $200 due by August 3rd, and the next $100 due by September 2nd. The initial $200 will cover the costs listed above and the remaining will go into the club’s fund so we can buy some training equipment and have some money left in the club funds. These fees are not negotiable and are expected on the dates listed. Please get the money to us when required and don’t make me chase money. I absolutely hate to chase money. There has been talk of doing fundraisers to offset some future costs (tournaments, spring leagues, indoor, 7v7, etc). We have been doing the Cruz Thru Car was coupons and so far have raised around $40 through the coupons. Not so good, compared to the G97 team which just got a check for $400 for doing the same fund raiser. If somebody would like to champion fundraising, have at it.
We understand that money is always an issue, but these are necessary costs for the boys and team to be registered to play and to help move the club forward. We are also asking for the additional $100(on top of the $200) to hold each family more accountable to the team. It will also be used to buy some training equipment and leave some funds in the bank. It can be a bit frustrating for the coaching staff to show up to train the boys, yet have less than 50% attendance. None of the coaches are charging for their time, which is very uncommon in club soccer anymore(we encourage everyone to look around) and the staff would appreciate everyone’s consistent attendance.
There is one last note. The coaching staff has recently had to tell a couple of players that we would not have room for them for the 2010/2011 season. One was a player from last year. The reason we bring this up is that we want everyone to understand that we will go through this process every year and each year, everyone must try out for a spot. Nobody’s spot is secure or guaranteed. This is the only way we can continue to develop the team and try to be fair.
Here is to continued development and success for the 2010/2011 year.
